DIY Gift Box from Scrapbook Paper

Here is a fun project for yourself, friends, or both. Creating your own DIY Gift Box out of scrapbook paper. There are a total of 20 steps and below a list of materials needed for the project. With this gift box you can make a myriad of things from candy boxes, wedding favors, or office and household content.

  • Velvet Scrapbook Paper
  • Paper Cutter
  • Mod Podge or Glue Stick
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Tissue Paper
  • Satin Ribbon

STEP 1: OBTAIN THICK PAPER
Thick scrapbook paper for sturdiness is best. Additional ways to add thickness is to tape or glue two sheets together.

STEP 2: SIMILAR MEASUREMENTS
This part you're to make sure that the paper is as close to a 12" X 12" paper square as possible.

STEP 3: PAPER CUT OR TRIM EXTRA LONG PAPER (IF NEEDED)

STEP 4: SKETCH AN "X" ON THE REVERSE SIDE
Take your paper and flip it to the reverse side. On this side draw an "X" from one corner to the other on each side.

STEP 5: ANGLE YOUR PAPER
Angle your paper so that it now shows a diamond shape facing you.

STEP 6: TAKE POINTED EDGES TO THE CENTER
Take each pointed edge and fold so the tip of the point touches the center of the drawn "X"

STEP 7 UNFOLD TOP AND BOTTOM FOLDS
Unfold the top and bottom folds of your square. You should clearly see a line going straight from top to bottom of the reverse side of the scrapbook paper. As well as a folded in side on the left and right.

STEP 8 FOLD THE FOLDED SIDES ON THEMSELVES.
Fold the folded sides on themselves. The newly folded side is not resting against the center line.

STEP 9: UNFOLD THE ENTIRE SHEET

STEP 10: FOLD THE BOTTOM CORNER
Arrange the sheet like a diamond once again. With this diamond shape fold the bottom corner to the center.

STEP 11: SNIP THE EDGES OF BOTTOM FOLDED CORNER
Looking at the bottom folded corner. Cut on both sides on the triangle formed a slit that should leave you with two right triangles and a house shape in the center. Do this on the other folded corner as well.

STEP 12: FOLD BACK THE ROOF OF THE BIG HOUSE SHAPED CENTER FLAP AND SEE THE DRAWN LINE, BOTH SIDES

STEP 13: TURN IN THE SIDE WITH NO SLITS TOWARD THE CENTER DRAWN LINE AGAIN

STEP 14: FOLD THE NEWLY MADE SLITS ONTO THE NON CUT CORNERS TO MAKE A HOUSE SHAPE ON BOTH SIDES.

STEP 15: RELEASE THE NEWLY MADE SLIT FLAPS UPWARD.
Raise the Non-Cut corners upper triangle and apply Mod Podge or Glue Stick to the center drawn point on both sides.

STEP 16: PLACE TO SLITS IN HAND FROM ACROSS FROM EACH OTHER
Wrap the edge over the two slits and glue the triangle down at the center point, both sides.

STEP 17: TO MAKE BOTTOM OF BOX CUT OUT NEW SCRAPBOOK PAPER SHEET.

STEP 18: FROM THE TOP AND SIDE OF THE PAPER CUT 1/8" FROM THE BOTTOM AND SIDE SO ITS SLIGHTLY SMALLER

STEP 19: FOLLOW STEPS 1-16 FOR MAKING ADDITIONAL BOX

STEP 20: ENJOY YOUR CREATION!
