One big change in the world of eCommerce is that you are able to do a whole lot more with this. While it’s simple, being able to stand out in a sea of merchants is something that definitely is hard. But there is something that lets you really stand out against others. Dropshipping is the game. It’s basically no fuss drop shipping and doesn’t require you to do much, and it’s something that can help you a whole lot. How does one take advantage of this though? Well, here we’ll go over how you can use this, and any big plus points or downsides to this.
What is It?
This is basically a super quick and very remunerative way to basically get products to others, without worrying about the storing, shipping, or the inventory tracking that you do. It’s basically fulfilling orders that stores then pass to third-party users to handle product packaging. This means that stores don’t normally manage this on their own, and lets customers get attracted, and also help them get sales, and then talk to others about the orders at hand.
How this works
This is something that stores use if they don’t want to hold onto the products directly in stock. Basically., when the customer orders this, they then get the item from another third party, and then it’s shipped directly.
Basically, it just follows this process:
Customer places the order
Retail provides order to drop shipper
Drop shipper then sends it to the person who bought it.
While these are normally customized or have the brand’s name on there, customers know that it’s from you, but don’t know that it’s from a third-party person that supplies this, which makes this efficient, with very little drawbacks in place.
The Benefits
Drop shi8pping is super simple. you sell and get the money for the item, but you don’t’ do anything else. You basically have a distributor who then ships this out for you. It saves you money and time, and also doesn’t have you tied up in inventory management.
When you do this correctly, it works like a charm and helps you get the items to customers without you having to worry about this. It also helps with any launches, so you’re not tied up with that. It’s super easy too, and it also is something that offers immeasurable benefits. Its’s a scalable model too, which means that with one product sold or a hundred products sold, money is made regardless, so it’s basically a non-issue with the sales that are made.
Once this is put in place, it does work, but there are a few downsides too.
The downsides
Your biggest downside is the control you have for this. You don’t really control what the third party is doing, which includes the shipping quality, the speed, the brand awareness and quality, so it can be hard to fully integrate those personalized feelings to this, since you don’t get to touch this all that much.
If something goes amiss too, such as late shipments and whatnot, or the wrong product is given to someone, then it’s going to fall on you. It’s also very competitive, and a lot of people are using this, so you have to figure out how to really stand out with this. While it may take some testing and trying, it’ll definitely be something that you’ll want to look into. It also does come with the sourcing issues, which can happen, and it can sometimes cost a bit more. but there are some great benefits to this that don’t require a ton of organizational changes.
